Learn how to make this classic coffee cocktail. Our easy recipe uses freshly brewed espresso, a dash of coffee liqueur and a simple sugar syrup.

Ingredients:

Ingredients:

  • 1 shot of freshly brewed espresso (about 1.5 oz)
  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz Kahlúa or coffee liqueur
  • Ice
  • 3 coffee beans (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Start by brewing a shot of espresso and letting it cool to room temperature.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  3. Add the cooled espresso, vodka, and Kahlúa to the shaker.
  4. Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.
  5. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
  6. If desired, garnish with three coffee beans on top of the drink.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

Note: If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can also mix the ingredients in a glass with ice and then strain into a martini glass.

The espresso martini was invented in the 1980s by a London bartender named Dick Bradsell. According to legend, Naomi Campbell asked him for a drink that would “wake me up, and then f*** me up,” and the espresso martini was born.
